In September we’ll turn to a rural Macedonia and the last female wild beekeepers in Europe. The documentary of the month is Honeyland , a 2019 documentary from Macedonian directors Tamara Kotevska, Ljubomir Stefanov. It is the Most Awarded Film out of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and the first documentary to receive a nomination in both Best International Feature Film and Best Documentary Feature categories in the history of the Oscars.
The last female bee-hunter in Europe must save the bees and return the natural balance in Honeyland, when a family of nomadic beekeepers invade her land and threaten her livelihood.
