Recent work from unicellular models to multicellular metazoan and plant tissues have identified cell size and shape as important parameters that can influence biosynthesis, proteome apportioning, cell cycle progression, cellular senescence, and tissue regeneration. This spotlight session will highlight recent studies addressing how cell size and shape influence various functions of stem cells. We hope to bring attention to this emerging research question of how cell size and shape affect stem cell function and bring together researchers from diverse stem cell systems.
